Summer Solstice Celebration

  • Grace Hudson Museum & Sun House 431 South Main Street Ukiah, CA 95482 USA (map)

Many back-to-landers came together annually to celebrate the summer solstice. June 17 isn’t exactly the solstice day, but it is a Saturday, and we’ll be celebrating with this family-friendly event with lots to do! Enjoy music from Redbud, featuring Bob Dress, Tobin Hendricks, and Yoli Rose. Play Greenfield Ranch Communeopoly, make your own tie-dye with Laura Fogg, or try your hand at macrame crafts with Ann Maglinte and Debra McCarthy. Explore the history of California counterculture with informational panels and ephemera from the Counterculture Museum and Archives based in Willits. Take in a woodworking demonstration from John Cunnan. And enjoy Jamaican-style vegetarian treats from our neighbor, Taste Buds restaurant. AND, see our latest exhibition, Something’s Happening Here: Artistic Reflections on the Back to the Land Movement.

The Museum will be FREE the entire day.

Thanks again to our exhibition sponsors, Frey Vineyards and Ukiah Natural Foods Co-op!!
