Sun House Tours

The Sun House, the Hudsons’ charming 1911 redwood Craftsman bungalow home, is adjacent to the Museum. It is interpreted for the public with docent-led tours leaving from the Museum on Wednesday through Sunday, from noon to 3:00 p.m. Designed by architect George Wilcox, in conjunction with John and Grace Hudson, it is furnished with the Hudsons’ eclectic possessions, and allows visitors a glimpse into the Hudsons’ Bohemian lifestyle. The Sun House is California Historical Landmark #926 and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. It is a founding participant site in the Historic Artists’ Homes and Studios consortium of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
