Writers Read: Ukiah's Literary Salon

  • Grace Hudson Museum & Sun House 431 South Main Street Ukiah, CA 95482 USA (map)

Writers Read will inaugurate its 25th season with an open reading to honor and celebrate two local poets who recently passed on: Stan Janiak and Lynne "the Poetician" Elman. We will begin with some readings of poems by those two, then hold a session open to anyone who wants to speak, read or sing. It would be appropriate to read poems that relate in some way to Stan or Lynne, or, with Lynne's great memorization skills in mind, recite one or two that you know by heart. As usual we will begin at 7:00 and end at 9:00, with a break in the middle for refreshments and socializing. Writers Read occurs on the last Thursday of almost every month. The program focuses on poetry, spoken word, short stories, song, and expository prose. The evening typically begins with a featured reader and then is followed by an hour of open mic.
