Film Screening: "The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks"

  • Grace Hudson Museum & Sun House 431 South Main Street Ukiah, CA 95482 USA (map)

Join us for a screening of The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, starring Oprah Winfrey and Rose Byrne, whose stellar careers have included being nominated for Oscars in acting.

Cells harvested from Henrietta Lacks have been invaluable in cancer research. However, she was never told, nor asked for consent. In this docudrama movie based on a book of the same name, find out more about her story and its reverberations for her family.

The film is included with Museum admission and popcorn will be provided. Admission is always free to active Museum members, Native Americans, and active-duty Military.

You can see the full woodcut portrait of Henrietta, created by Amy Lapping Rivera, in our current exhibition, Look Again: Portraits of Daring Women.
