Come on by the Grace Hudson Museum as part of your August First Friday Art Walk. This will be the final First Friday to see our current exhibition, Look Again: Portraits of Daring Women, before it closes on August 16. This traveling show from Exhibit Envoy features woodblock and collage prints by east coast artist Julie Lapping Rivera, focusing on significant women, many of whom were underappreciated in their time. Rivera was inspired by the New York Times special obituary series, Overlooked, which has given recognition and new life to hundreds of those women. For the Grace Hudson Museum presentation, Look Again also includes 15 Mendocino County artists who have created artwork depicting inspirational women in their own lives — they have been family members, friends, mentors, or public figures.

For music, we are excited with the return of Back Porch Trio (aka BP3), the popular Mendo County folk/funk/ballad/pop band, and their repertoire of original tunes and covers with their own unique interpretations. You’ll also be able to spend time discovering or getting reacquainted with our core galleries, featuring Grace Hudson’s artwork, exquisite Pomo basketry, and Carpenter-Hudson family history. Also enjoy an evening walk in our Wild Gardens enhanced by the long summer days. Light refreshments will be available.
