With this 2026 exhibition we commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Grace Hudson Museum, the 150th anniversary of the City of Ukiah, and the 250th anniversary of our nation by exploring elements of the Greater Ukiah Valley — past and present — which have helped create and shape community. Deep Valley: People, Places, Memory takes a look at places and associations such as Todd Grove Park, the Palace Hotel, Mendocino State Hospital, Pinoleville Rancheria, the Latino Americano Concilio, the Ukiah Haiku Festival, City of 10,000 Buddhas; and, to be sure, the history and evolution of the historic Sun House and the Grace Hudson Museum.

Richard Spills the Tea . . .
Mendocino County Museum, 400 E Commercial St, Willits
Counterculture Archivist and Cannabis Historian Richard Jergensen and Friends will discuss the past and future of Cannabis in Mendocino County. The program will take place at the Mendocino County Museum where you can also see the exhibition Behind the Redwood Curtain: Cannabis in California, which opens there on October 10. Attendees of this program will also get to see additional items from Richard’s extensive collection.

The Mendocino State Hospital: A Retrospective
For nearly eighty years, the Mendocino State Hospital was one of the county's largest employers and a local fixture until its abrupt closure in 1972. Q.Z. Lau, locally based historian, will explore the trends that led to the hospital's founding, its daily operations and treatments, and the complex forces that ultimately led to its closure.
